Blue Grass Airport · LEX · Lexington, Kentucky

Rental car delivered
to Blue Grass Airport.

LEX is the closest commercial airport to Frankfort, and the one most of our guests fly into. Your vehicle is at the airport waiting when you land — the exact car you booked, with no counter and no paperwork in between.

Why LEX is the easy one

Blue Grass is a small airport, and that's its great advantage. You walk off the aircraft and you're outside in a couple of minutes. The rental counters sit right there in baggage claim on the first floor, with the cars in a covered facility next to the terminal — no train between concourses, no shuttle to a lot on the perimeter road.

Which means we're honest about this: at LEX we aren't saving you a long walk. What we're saving you is the counter itself — the line, the upsell, the paperwork, and being handed "a midsize or similar" when you booked something specific.

The other thing counters can't do is stay open. The desks at LEX work around the flight schedule. A delayed arrival that gets you on the ground near midnight is exactly when you find that out, and it's the situation delivery is actually built for.

What LEX guests are usually here for

Horse country

Lexington is the reason most people fly into LEX. The farms along Old Frankfort Pike and Paris Pike are the postcard version of Kentucky, and they're not walkable — you need a vehicle, and preferably one you enjoy driving. Keeneland's spring and fall meets fill this airport, and a rental booked late in those weeks is expensive if it exists at all.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail

LEX is the natural entry point for the eastern half of the Trail. Woodford Reserve is fifteen minutes from the airport in Versailles. Buffalo Trace is in Frankfort. Four Roses and Wild Turkey are in Lawrenceburg, a short run south. It's a driving itinerary, and a designated driver matters more here than most places.

The university and the medical centres

UK brings a steady stream of parents, visiting academics and patients' families through LEX. Those are often longer stays where a rental counter's daily rate stops being sensible.

Business into Frankfort

The state capital has no commercial airport of its own. Anyone flying in for the legislature, a state agency or a contract in Frankfort lands at LEX and drives — and that thirty-minute run is a lot better in something decent.

How it works

Three hours notice, and late arrivals are fine. A 10pm landing at LEX is a bad time to discover the counter shut at nine. Delivery does not keep office hours.

The fleet at LEX

Chevrolet Tahoe

2025 Premier, seven seats, four-wheel drive. The sensible answer for a family, a lot of luggage, or a Keeneland weekend in the rain.

Chevrolet Corvette

2026 2LT. Woodford County's back roads are among the best driving in the state, and this is the car people book to enjoy them.

Ford Mustang

2020 GT Premium. The most-booked car in the fleet — enough of an occasion without being impractical for a week.
